  • Emmanuel Macron continued his consultations on Tuesday, September 3, with a view to appointing a prime minister who would not be immediately censured by the National Assembly. More than fifty days after the second round of legislative elections, no name has yet emerged to designate Gabriel Attal’s successor at Matignon.
  • The situation seems inextricable. After exploring the trail of former socialist prime minister Bernard Cazeneuve, then that of the president of the CESE, Thierry Beaudet, Emmanuel Macron again tested on Tuesday the scenario of an appointment of Xavier Bertrand, the LR boss of the Hauts-de-France region, provoking an outcry from the RN to LFI, via the right represented by Eric Ciotti.
  • On Tuesday evening, the national office of the Socialist Party rejected a proposal to not censure a government led by Bernard Cazeneuve. On the right, after having stuck to their refusal to participate in any government or coalition, the leaders of the Republicans finally opened the door to the Xavier Bertrand hypothesis… while affirming that it was probably not « viable ».
  • At the same time, former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe made his candidacy for the 2027 presidential election official on Tuesday evening.
