As Apple’s next keynote event, scheduled for September 9, approaches, many tech enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the brand’s new announcements. As with every conference, Apple not only presents its latest innovations, but also cleans up its catalog, removing certain products to make way for new models.
The star of the event will undoubtedly be the presentation of the iPhone 16. While this announcement is almost certain, rumors are also circulating about other products that could be unveiled, such as new iPads, a Mac mini equipped with the M4 chip, and perhaps new versions of the AirPods as well as some models of Apple Watch. However, the arrival of the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max could sound the death knell for the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, as Apple wants to avoid any internal competition within its catalog.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Plus could also disappear, although the iPhone 14 seems set to stick around as an entry-level model for a bit longer, at least until the potential arrival of an iPhone SE 4. Furthermore, the iPhone 13, released in 2021, could also be retired, leaving the iPhone 14 to occupy the entry-level segment.
An expected revision for the Apple Watch, AirPods and iPad
In addition to iPhones, the Apple Watch lineup could also get a shakeup. There are speculations that three new Apple Watch Series 10s could be unveiled alongside the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and SE 3. If confirmed, the Apple Watch Series 9, Ultra 2, and SE 2 would be removed from the lineup.
On the AirPods side, the models 2 and 3 could be replaced by two versions of the AirPods 4: an entry-level model and a mid-range version. Finally, Apple could take advantage of this event to renew the two most affordable iPads in its range. The iPad 11 and a new iPad mini could replace the iPad 10 and iPad mini 6.
Opportunities for bargain hunters
For consumers, these changes in the catalog represent an ideal opportunity to get a good deal. Apple product resellers will probably offer significant discounts on the models removed from the catalog to sell off the remaining stocks. This will allow some users to make substantial savings on products that are still performing well but will soon be unavailable in the official Apple store.
