Course

Even after the rest day, the classification riders will have to work hard again. With an altitude of only 1068 meters and an average gradient of 6.9 percent, it is not an impressive climb on paper, but the Lagos de Covadonga is especially impressive because of the surroundings in which it is located.

Mart Smeets once called Lagos de Covadonga one of the most haunted climbs in cycling. The climb was first conquered in 1983 and since then Lagos de Covadonga has become a famous col in the Vuelta. The last time the Vuelta a España visited Lagos de Covadonga was in 2021.

Then Egan Bernal and Primož Roglič decided to make a show of it by attacking far from the finish. The Slovenian eventually proved to be the best on the final climb. Before the Lagos de Covadonga, there are two more climbs that play a role in this stage: the Mirador del Fito and Collado Llomena. Escartín: “Just after the rest day, this stage could cost one of the favorites dearly.”

TV

You have the choice of two channels for the Vuelta a España: Sporza and Eurosport. Both channels will report live on the race every day. Today, the first rider is expected to arrive between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM on top of the final climb. NOS often broadcasts the Vuelta live in the weekend in the regular Studio Sport broadcasts.
