The Paris prosecutor’s office has requested a trial at the assizes against Dahbia B., 26, suspected of the murder of young Lola, at the end of 2022 in Paris, the public prosecutor’s office told AFP on Monday, September 16, confirming information from RMC.

The offences retained by the prosecution are murder of a minor under 15 years of age accompanied by “rape, torture or acts of barbarity”, as well as “rape of a minor with torture or acts of barbarity”. These two crimes, if they are finally retained by the investigating judge who will decide on the referral to trial, carry a life sentence for Dahbia B..

On October 14, 2022, Lola, 12 years old at the time of the events, was found lifeless in a plastic crate in the inner courtyard of the building in the capital where she lived. While looking for his daughter, her father, the caretaker of the residence, saw on video surveillance images Lola enter the hall around 3:15 p.m. with a woman he did not know. The latter came out of the building around 5 p.m., pulling heavy luggage, including a plastic trunk.

The day after the events, the criminal brigade of the Paris judicial police arrested Dahbia B. in Bois-Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine), a young Algerian born in 1998, who entered France legally in 2016 with a student residence permit. She had been under an obligation to leave French territory for two months. The fact that she was still present in France had sparked virulent criticism from the right and the far right. The government had in return castigated “indecency” of this “political recovery”.

During her police custody, Dahbia B. said she had “imposed [à Lola] to shower before committing sexual assaults and other acts of violence against her resulting in death. She allegedly hid the body in the cash register.”Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau reported in a statement at the time. At the end of her police custody, she was charged and placed in pre-trial detention.
