A new team, a new association: the Beach Cross of Berck is making a fresh start for its 20th anniversary.

Jean-Marc Brodbeck has handed in his apron. Not that he was worn out by the organization of the Beach Cross but he had already expressed his desire to pass the baton. The covid episodes in 2020 but also the last-minute cancellation following the fuel shortage in 2022 certainly tipped the balance. It is his faithful right-hand men, the men in the shadows, the motorcycle enthusiasts who have taken up the torch. It’s a new beginning, a new association, but they are not strangers. ” stressed the mayor, Bruno Cousein, welcoming the structure that will now support the Beach Cross of Berck. If Denis Guérin and Jean-Claude Moussé share the presidency of this new association, it is in fact a united and experienced team that will take charge of the destiny of the first round of the French championship on sand on October 12 and 13. Alongside them, Benoît Lenglet will occupy the position of secretary and the unshakeable Frédéric Tillette that of vice-president. “We continue the story” insists the latter.

Changes

« We are going to change the start which will be more central and parallel to the sea. We are also removing the big bump and the optional route. ” explains Benoît Lenglet, the route specialist. ” We will also modify the format of certain races while keeping the spirit of the Beach Cross and its short sleeves. ” adds Denis Guérin, ” we will move to endurance format in a single event for Vintage races which will go to 1 hour, Espoirs 1 hour also and Juniors 1h30. For quads we will go from 3 times 20 minutes to 2 times 30 minutes. This will free up time and additional capacities for us».
