Heidi Gaugain, towards a first Paralympic medal. The young Mayenne native is taking part in the individual pursuit on the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines track this Sunday, September 1. She is the reigning double world champion in the specialty and is therefore naturally one of the favorites to win the gold medal.
“She is impressive”
At 19, the talented cyclist from Saint-Georges-sur-Erve is competing in the Paralympic Games for the first time in her career. And the manager of the French paracycling team, Laurent Thirionnet, is particularly complimentary about her: “She is impressive, she is lively, she is a super beautiful person, gifted, kind, endearing, hard-working. Heïdi is full of talent and we can’t wait to see her grow. She has a very bright future in paracycling and in able-bodied cycling.”
The individual pursuit qualifications will take place at midday. The final is scheduled for the afternoon. Heidi Gaugain, who was eliminated last Wednesday during the 500 meters standing start, is only a few hours away from a huge happiness.
