A crowd observed a minute of silence at the precise time the attack began in Réïm

In Réïm, at the scene of the Nova music festival massacre, where more than 370 people were killed on October 7, 2023, a collected crowd kicked off the commemoration ceremonies with a minute of silence at precisely 6:29 a.m. ( 3:29 GMT), the moment Hamas’s unprecedented attack on southern Israel began.

The kadfish, the prayer for the dead, was read by several fathers who lost their sons at the Nova festival. Israeli President Isaac Herzog, present on the scene, met families of victims and was due to deliver a speech.

As relatives of those killed lit candles, the echoes of artillery fire and a helicopter in flight could be heard from the nearby Gaza Strip.
