Reports: Paul Pogba has doping suspension reduced to 18 months

Throughout Paul Pogba’s off-the-field mess over the last 12 months, Juventus’ stance has always been the same: the club will wait for the entire process to play out and then they will make a final decision on the Frenchman’s future in Turin.

That comes even after Pogba was handed a four-year ban back in February, with only an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport being Pogba’s last lifeline of ever playing for Juventus again.

Well …

According to a report from the Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel that has since been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano and others in Italy, the 31-year-old Pogba will have his four-year ban reduced to just 18 months by CAS. That means two very important things aren’t too far away for Pogba: he can return to training with Juventus in January and could very well be available for actual game time again come March. Pogba, who has two years left on the four-year contract he signed with Juventus in the summer of 2022, has been paid the minimum salary required since being provisionally suspended in September 2023 after failing a doping test following Juventus’ season opener against Udinese.

Do the math and Pogba has already served 13 months of the suspension since that day in September when the provisional suspension was handed down.

Mokbel adds that the initial fine that Pogba had to pay was also wiped out.
