At the end of the draw (2-2) obtained by ASSE in Nantes, Olivier Dall’Oglio presented himself at a press conference. The Greens coach spoke of the competition taking place within his squad and was questioned about the benching of his captain Yunis Abdelhamid.
“May the players who have earned credit be strong to stay there”
Olivier Dall’Oglio (coach of ASSE): « We are a real group. When one is tired, there is another who takes his place. I think that I am an observer of what I see the match before and during the week, I see how things are going. Afterwards, there are boys who want to earn their place, maybe a little more Grinta. That’s what I’m looking for. Now we must continue. The players who have earned, in quotes, a little credit, must be strong to stay there. That’s it. It’s about raising your level individually. Everyone must raise their level, otherwise we will not succeed. »
“I expect more from everyone. They know it, it’s written, it’s said regularly. We are in a championship which is not easy, which is athletic. There’s a lot of power and we don’t always have all the ingredients for it. So obviously, we have to look elsewhere, mentally, in terms of aggressiveness, even if we are small. That’s the determination I want to see. »
Would Abdelhamid have given too much for the collective, at the expense of himself?
“Yunis (Abdelhamid) has done a lot since the start of the season. He took on a lot of responsibility. Where he was lacking, we know very well that we are still missing two players who take responsibility and he has established himself as a leader. He did a lot of things, maybe too much. He wanted to do too many things and at one point he overdosed. This is why he needed to take a step back, to put back certain work protocols that he had forgotten for himself, because he had given himself for the collective. He’s a boy who is very important for the group, who is very important for the staff. He’s really a trustworthy guy. Today he was on the bench, but that’s part of a footballer’s life. »
