It’s only a matter of time before we see the first PS5 Pros arrive in living rooms. The classic PlayStation 5 Pro and the 30th anniversary bundle are already available. Here’s where and when to pre-order new products from Sony.
The PS5 Pro is finally here… and is expensive (€800). This revelation surprised no one, as rumors around the PS5 Pro had intensified in recent months. Several leaks suggested that Sony was preparing a more powerful version of its flagship console, and it was only a matter of days before the company officially confirmed its existence. These rumors were almost confirmed last week during the broadcast of a promotional banner for the 30th anniversary of the PlayStation, on which we could see, by zooming in, what seemed to be a sketch of the PS5 Pro. Since September 10, it is no longer a mirage: it really exists.
Were you impatiently waiting to get your hands on this new machine? Here’s where to pre-order the PS5 Pro, the new super-doped next-gen console.
PS5 Pro pre-order: where and when to reserve your console?
If you’re a long-time player on Sony’s next-gen console, you’ve probably been traumatized by the shortages that occurred during its launch in 2020. Indeed, the price of the console was soaring, approaching four figures on resale sites, which made the option of a PC configuration for borderline gaming more attractive.
This time, the enthusiasm could be less significant, if we rely on the release of the PS4 Pro at the time. Well, that remains to be seen… The new PS5 upgrade doesn’t come alone.
PS5 Pro 30th anniversary
Indeed, to mark the console’s 30th anniversary, a collector’s PS5 Pro as well as accessories revisited in the colors of the PS1 will also be marketed, enough to revive players’ nostalgia. In particular, we expect:
- 12,300 editions of a retro PS5 Pro pack (€1,099)
- A retro PlayStation Portalsold individually. (€239.99)
- A retro DualSenre controllersold individually. (€79.99)
- A retro DualSenre Edge controllersold individually (€249.99)
For all its new products, Sony opens pre-orders from September 26, 2024 exclusively on Playstation Direct. For the moment, no time has been officially communicated. The queue is likely to be long despite the launch price is €799.
The first units will be available November 7and several brands such as Amazon, Fnac and Boulanger will then allow you to reserve the console.
What are the major differences between the PS5 Pro and the PS5/PS5 Slim?
Firstly, what stands out with the old PS5 is obviously the design which offers an even more polished version of the console. There are three black bands instead of one, on either side of the facade.
The PS5 Pro marks on paper a real leap in terms of power compared to its sisters, the PS5 and the PS5 Slim. It is literally the most powerful console on the market, ahead of the Xbox series X. The Pro is aimed above all at the most demanding players. The most notable difference is in graphics power. With a larger GPU, the PS5 Pro significantly outperforms the standard PS5 (10.3 TFlops), resulting in significantly improved visuals on the latest AAA titles like Star Wars Outlaws For example.
Ray-tracing, aimed at offering even more realistic quality of reflections and light effects, is also improved on this PS5 Pro. In addition, PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) technology is appearing: a new upscaling system, similar to Nvidia’s DLSS, allowing you to obtain even sharper images. The storage capacity is also increased with a 2 TB SSD. And it was necessary since it does without the disk reader from now on.
