The artistic director of the Dior house draws the thread from her story of powerful women that began with her first shows at the head of the label in 2016. This Tuesday, September 24, she kicked off Parisian fashion week with a parade ready-to-wear spring-summer 2025 in the glory of a mythological figure. The Dior amazons take power on the podium.
Aim for the sky
Pumped up by a summer of Olympic success, the house of Dior continues the sporting metaphor to embody its modern and committed vision of fashion. Maria Grazia Chiuri invites the artist Sagg Napoli to create a live performance. The latter, adorned with the silhouette of an archer, opens the show by shooting arrows within a glass corridor. A highly symbolic setting against a backdrop of a surreal blue sky which touched the audience right in the heart… Sky is the limit.

Powerful muse
Goddesses and mythological figures are part of the vocabulary of the collections designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri. Its winter 2025 haute couture collection already gave pride of place to athletic silhouettes. His inspiration? The artistic director revisits one of Monsieur Dior’s iconic models, drawing inspiration in particular from the cut of the “Amazone” dress from fall-winter 1951-1952.

Bar jackets worn with low-rise joggers, hybrid sneakers, caps worn on the side à la Rihanna, and a checkerboard pilot jacket. Maria Grazia Chiuri summons the dress codes of the 2000s to which she gives a couture accent. A clever mix that should appeal to generation Y.

The sailor top, a cult fashion piece straight out of the sailor’s uniform, is making a comeback. This garment which has crossed oceans and eras is regularly the subject of stylistic transformations in the biggest houses: from Coco Chanel to Jean Paul Gaultier. For summer 2025, Maria Grazia Chiuri plays with her graphic lines and the metamorphosis into a bodysuit. Or when the stripe becomes glamorous.
Rain of Stars
At Dior, the show always begins before the show. No exception at the Rodin Museum, which gathered from the street a crowd of fans who came to see the stars invited by the house. In the museum garden, Brigitte Macron met the Queen of Norway with the French Yseult, Aya Nakamura, Laëtitia Casta and Isabelle Adjani, the K-pop star Jisoo, the Spaniard Rosalia and the Americans Natalie Portman and Jennifer Garner. A parade of stars.
