The team sheets for this evening’s 20245 Europa League duel between Eintracht Frankfurt and Viktoria Plzen have been released.
Dino Toppmöller’s Eintracht Frankfurt seek to get their 2024/25 Europa League campaign off to a winning start with a home match against Viktoria Pilsen on Thursday evening. The 2021/22 Europa League Champions are back in UEFA’s second tier club competition for the first time since capturing the title a little over two years ago.
Toppmöller opted to make three changes to the XI that defeated Wolfsburg in the league last Saturday. Niels Nkounkou will deputize for the injured Robin Koch. Mahmoud Dahoud takes the place of midfielder Hugo Larsson. Attacker Igor Matanovic is also preferred to Fares Chaibi.
Matanovic makes his starting debut for Frankfurt while Dahoud also earns his first start for his new club. Matanovic’s involvement up front makes a 4-2-3-1 formation likely, though Ansgar Knauff could also work opposite Nkounkou as a wingback in a 3-4-3.
