PORTRAIT – The mayor of Grenoble is targeted by opponents after the homicide of a municipal agent. His record is being singled out.

« Angry at this totally unbridled violence. » It was with a marked face and his head bowed that the Green mayor of Grenoble, Éric Piolle, appeared before the press on Sunday afternoon. A few hours earlier, a municipal agent was coldly shot dead while trying to prevent a reckless driver who had caused a road accident from fleeing. Yet another chilling incident in the Isère prefecture where no fewer than seven shootings have taken place this summer. Repeated tragedies that seriously undermine the city councilor’s security record, while the Grenoble public prosecutor, Éric Vaillant, described a climate of “gang war” in the capital of the Alps.
