Stand up by Mélissa Da Costa, which proudly occupied the best place last week, therefore falls back to 2nd position. 20,557 readers still went to the checkout to rediscover the author’s pen. It thus overtakes another work from the literary rentrée: Jacarandaby Gael Faye.
The author of Small Country (Paperback, 2017), a book with a million sales, captivates its readership and convinces 15,282 readers of the finesse of its pen. His latest novel, Jacarandais the third best-selling book of the week, ahead of The Midwife of Auschwitz by Anna Stuart (translated by Maryline Beury).

This historical novel, which dominated the top 3 bestsellers throughout the summer, is gradually giving way to the back-to-school books, and is finding refuge in fourth position in the ranking, with 15,123 copies sold.
Faced with new releases, Amélie Nothomb has not said her last word. True to her annual ritual, the writer once again marks the literary rentrée with the publication of a novel by her long-time publisher, Albin Michel. And already, it has climbed into the top 10 bestsellers. No fewer than 11,207 readers responded to the call, propelling The Impossible Return to 8th place in sales in just five days.
The trials are making their way
A test also finds its place in the top of the basket. Death in the Face – The Medical Examiner Who Makes the Dead Speakby Philippe Boxho intrigued 14,394 people and placed the book in 5th position in the ranking. It is thus ahead of the enigmatic thriller by Freida McFadden: The cleaning lady (trans. Karine Forestier).
Other releases have not left young readers indifferent. Volume 14 of Solo Levelingby Dubu, h-goon and Chugong (trans. Sabrina Damoune), and volume 2 of A thousand kisses for a boy brought together 21,989 people in bookstores: 12,706 for manga and 9,283 for romance.
The numbers are there
Slight improvement for sales figures this week of return from vacation. The start of the school year is approaching and families are back in bookstores. If sales (in volume) are at the same level as the same week of the year 2023, they increase by 2% in value compared to the same period last year.
