Abakar Sylla’s record only lasted for a year. Having become the most expensive player in Strasbourg’s history last summer, after being recruited from Bruges for 20 million euros, the Ivorian defender will soon be stripped of this mark. According to information from the newspaper The TeamRacing will indeed break the bank to secure the services of Deivid Washington.

The daily explains that the operation should cost Strasbourg no less than 21 million euros. Born in 2005, Washington was recruited by Chelsea from Santos last summer, for around 16 million euros. But for his first season with the Blues, the Brazilian will have played very little, playing only 2 Premier League matches. At the start of the season, his situation had become even more fragile, since Enzo Maresca did not even call him up.

Strasbourg continues its XXL transfer window

The Team specifies that the player should commit for 5 years with RCSA. However, he will not be the only player labeled “BlueCo” (the American consortium that owns Chelsea and Strasbourg) to sign with Racing this summer, since the Serbian goalkeeper, Djordje Petrovic, will also take the bridge this Friday (but should however arrive in the form of a loan). Before them, Andrey Santos (20 years old) and Caleb Wiley (19 years old) also joined the Grand Est this summer from London, as did Diego Moreira, who arrived for €2 million.

Racing is thus continuing its transfer window on a hungry basis. After a 13th place last season in Ligue 1, the club’s management has pulled out all the stops this summer. The promising Liam Rosenior replaced Patrick Vieira on the bench, while 13 recruits arrived for more than 75 million euros. Among the most notable: Sékou Mara, Sebastian Nanasi, Mamadou Sarr, Guéla Doué and the Colombian Oscar Perea.
