Questioned by the deputy Jean-François Rousset on the South-Aveyron hospital project, the Minister responsible for Health committed to supporting this strategic project, nevertheless conceding “adjustments” to complete the financing estimated at 90 million euros.
“Mr. Minister, is the State fully mobilized to meet these needs?” In an oral question session at the National Assembly on January 21, the deputy for the 3rd constituency of Aveyron questioned the Ministry of Health and Access to Care Yannick Neuder on the mobilization of the State to advance the project for a new hospital in South Aveyron.
“Thanks to the 2024 health budget, we have obtained nearly 100 million euros to build a common hospital by bringing together the healthcare offer in South Aveyron”recalled the MP who is counting on the establishment, whose opening is planned for 2028-2029, to optimize “medical attractiveness” of the territory. For the South Aveyron parliamentarian, “the emergency” nevertheless imposes “immediate actions”.
“Adapt to the geographical reality of the territory”
“We need, first of all, the guarantee that all the regulatory procedures linked to this project move forward without delay, for example to ensure the issuance of the building permit. Then, a double attachment of this hospital to the Toulouse University Hospitals and Montpellier, an essential condition for accelerating recruitment and adapting to the geographical reality of our territory.”
Requirements to which the Minister responsible for Health responded favorably. “The government is fully committed to supporting this strategic project […] u“an essential response to the challenges encountered by the health establishments of Millau and Saint-Affrique, faced with structural difficulties, in particular dilapidated installations, declining medical attractiveness, and degraded financial situations.”
“Provide residents with modern hospital infrastructure”
Ready to “follow each step closely” with “the shared desire to offer residents a modern hospital infrastructure, attractive to health professionals, and focused on the needs of the population”, the minister announced an upcoming change.
By 2026, the current intermediate management structure (health cooperation group of resources) will be transformed into a “health establishment group” facilitating pooling between the medical teams of the two sites.
Its role: “structuring non-redundant care sectors, adapted to the needs of the territory. This includes the development of specialized medicine, the strengthening of geriatric care, surgery, and a consolidated emergency offer.”
Of the “financial adjustments” to be expected
Before the next meeting of the steering committee at the end of March in which user and staff representatives should participate – this is a first – a selection jury will be convened on January 29 to validate the selected proposals and “ensure budgetary control of the project”. The topic of the day.
Because if the dedicated envelope of 80 million euros, including 71 million euros from the State and 9 million from the Region, is now “sanctuary” notably recalled the ARS, the estimated cost of the project is now estimated at 90 million euros. So for the minister, “financial adjustments” will be necessary. As “savings on logistics chains” as well as “discussions with local authorities for the financing of road connections and sanitation.”
