TAG Heuer reinvents its Formula 1 collection for 2025
TAG Heuer has decided that it is time to breathe new life into its famous Formula 1 collection, and this announcement coincides perfectly with the return of the brand, under the LVMH group, as official timekeeper of the Formula 1 World Championship FIA! This first watch, or rather this set of watches, which marks the kick-off of this redesign is the all-new Formula 1 chronograph. On the agenda: new shapes, new materials and a revitalized color palette. Four models are launched simultaneously, including a colorful edition inspired by Oracle Red Bull Racing.
The Formula 1 collection was launched in 1986 with brightly colored quartz watches, drawing inspiration from the world of racing. It indeed represented the first completely new collection after the Heuer company was bought by Technique d'Avant-Garde, now TAG Heuer. Given that racing has been part of both companies' DNA for a long time, it was only natural that this first launch encapsulates this shared passion.
At the time, many brands were still struggling to recover from the quartz crisis of the 1970s. However, by the early 1980s, most brands, including TAG Heuer, had adopted this new technology. The Formula 1 collection combined bold colors and new materials, such as rubber and resin, with quartz movements. At the end of the decade, the first Formula 1 chronograph saw the light of day, and the collection took off in the mid-1990s, notably thanks to its partnership with legendary driver Ayrton Senna.
Today, the collection has been completely revamped. The new Formula 1 chronograph sports a grade 2 titanium case, measuring 44mm in diameter and 14.1mm in height. Although these dimensions seem imposing, the integrated design keeps the size between the lugs at 47.3mm. Checking the specifications of the new model, we note that it is actually shorter from end to end and a millimeter thinner overall. Its modern aesthetic is accentuated by a fixed tachymeter bezel with a colored outline that sets it apart from the case.

In terms of performance, TAG Heuer focuses on reliability by integrating its Caliber 16 automatic chronograph caliber, which operates at a frequency of 28,800 vph and has a power reserve of 42 hours. The Caliber 16 displays elapsed time via a colored central chronograph hand, with a 30-minute subdial at 12 o'clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection is sold with a black, red or blue Oracle Red Bull Racing rubber strap, with a pin buckle. Prices start at 4,300 CHF for the raw titanium model, 4,600 CHF for those coated in black DLC and 5,300 CHF for the Oracle Red Bull Racing Edition. Although these prices are relatively high, the collection's redesign offers a design that stands out, marking a significant step for the entire range.
