Oliver Bearman ready for rookie campaign with Haas: team sees Ferrari links as opportunity, not frustration.

Oliver Bearman is about to begin its first season in Formula 1 with Haasassociated with the veteran Esteban Ocon in a new team of drivers for the American team. Although the young British star's long-term future is widely predicted to take him towards Ferrarithe director of the Haas team, Hey Komatsudismissed any notion of frustration over Bearman's potential loss to the Scuderia following his move.


A Beneficial Partnership with Ferrari

The long-standing technical and driver development relationship between Haas and Ferrari allowed the team to secure Bearman, who is part of theFerrari Driver Academy since 2022. The 18-year-old impressed during the sessions FP1 and substitute appearances at Baku et Interlagos last season, where he even scored points on his debut.

Komatsu stressed that access to a talent like Bearman is a privilege, not an obstacle, even if Ferrari recalls him after the saison 2026.

“It’s not frustrating at all… I think it’s amazing that we had access to Oli. It is because of our relationship with Ferrari that we have Oli,” said Komatsu.
“If we work together and make improvements so that at the end of '26 Ferrari insist on having Oli in their car, that must be a compliment to us.”


Two years of development opportunities

Bearman is under contract with Haas until 2026giving the team a window to mold him as a competitive driver. Komatsu highlighted the near-term benefits of this collaboration, recognizing the opportunity to help Bearman grow as a driver while improving Haas' operations.

The young Briton is already considered a prime candidate to replace Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari once the seven-time world champion completes his stint with the team.


Haas long-term vision

Although the partnership with Ferrari made Bearman's arrival easier, Komatsu said Haas aspires to one day stand on its own feet by nurturing and developing young talent.

“We need to be able to give opportunities to young drivers and then be able to develop and identify talent… This is the first year for that,” Komatsu explained.
“We are determined to make this work, and if at the end of the day we reach the stage where Ferrari are happy enough to take Oli for '27, we will have done well.”


Bearman's Commencement Year: Expectations and Challenges

The pressure will undoubtedly be on Bearman to perform as he makes the jump to . His association with the experienced Ocon should offer him a balance between mentoring and competition. Haas' priority will be to provide Bearman with a stable platform to grow, while leveraging his raw talent to improve their own ranking in the manufacturers' championship.

Bearman's rookie season officially begins with the 2025 pre-season testingwhere he will further acclimatize to the Haste VF-25featuring new improvements and a revised chassis aimed at improving its competitiveness.
