an unexpected future for Sergio Perez?

As he considers his future after leaving Red Bull, Sergio Perez could surprise by turning to Formula E, according to his father, Antonio Perez Garibay. The latter, present at the recent Formula E race in Mexico, clearly opened the door to this possibility. “I never really thought about Formula E, but I can imagine Checo going there to race there,” said the driver's father in comments relayed by Motorsport.

Heading to Formula E for Perez?

Antonio Perez then described Formula E as a growing discipline. “This category has existed for 11 years, it’s a young category. Today it is the second largest category in the world, but in five years it will be the first. » This transition could be facilitated by Carlos Slim, historical support of Perez. Although Claro and Telcel left Red Bull, Slim reaffirmed his commitment to Latin American drivers, while praising the performance of Franco Colapinto. Part of this support could thus shift to Formula E.

For his part, Sergio Perez, 34, remains open. “I will decide on my next step within six months,” the Mexican recently confided while Alberto Longo, co-founder of Formula E, even declared that he would like to attract Perez to the discipline.
