Formula 1 | Bortoleto: It’s not easy for a Brazilian to arrive in

The signing of Gabriel Bortoleto for the 2025 season and beyond was secured by Audi ahead of his full-time commitment in 2026.

Mattia Binotto, the operations director, brings a Brazilian driver back to the starting grid for the first time since 2017, which the 20-year-old says is a special feeling as he wants to give his compatriots reasons to be proud.

“I’m very proud to be Brazilian, because nothing is easy for us. We come a long way, we go through a lot to succeed, especially in this sport.”

“It is very expensive for Brazil to support even the smallest driver to be able to race in Formula 3, then in Formula 2. And to be able to one day go to Formula 1, you also need the budget. We have not gone through a very good period in recent years in Brazil we are trying to improve more and more, but it is never easy.”

“It’s amazing for me to be able to bring a little happiness to the fans of my country in these moments, because if I can be part of their Sunday morning when they wake up and watch and they see a pilot Brazilian representing them in Abu Dhabi, Qatar, all over Europe as well, it’s an incredible feeling for me and for them too.”
