Formula E: Oliver Rowland (Nissan) wins in the final laps in Mexico

The start of the second E-Prix of the 2025 Formula E season was given this Saturday in Mexico. The race was contested by the usual 22 drivers at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City. The circuit, measuring 2.63 kilometers and comprising 19 turns, hosted the second of the sixteen rounds of the 11th season of the discipline.

Pascal Wehrlein started for the second time this season from pole position with his Porsche. At the start of the 36 laps of the E-Prix, he comfortably retained his first place ahead of his teammate Antonio Félix da Costa. Behind them, Jean-Éric Vergne (DS Penske) was overtaken on the second lap by Oliver Rowland (Nissan) who took third position. During the first lap, Dan Ticktum (Kiro Race) lost seven places and found himself last following a collision.

From the fifth lap, Oliver Rowland appeared more and more pressing behind Antonio Félix da Costa, but was unable to take second place from him. Behind, several nice overtakes were to be observed such as that of Nico Müller (Andretti) on Sam Bird (Neom McLaren) on the eleventh lap. Müller did not stop there and on the following lap overtook Nick de Vries (Mahindra), Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) and Maximilian Günther (DS Penske) to find himself in sixth position. He was then just behind Jake Dennis, his teammate.

On the fourteenth lap, they both overtook Jean-Éric Vergne. In the next one, Jake Dennis and Oliver Rowland got the better of Antonio Félix da Costa. On the sixteenth lap, Jake Dennis, who had come away from Oliver Rowland, dislodged Pascal Wehrlein from first place.

Shortly after, Antonio Félix da Costa, who had passed through the Attack Mode zone, overtook Oliver Rowland, Pascal Wehrlein and Jake Dennis in turn to take the lead of the race on the 19th lap. But, he quickly returned the place to Dennis by once again going through the artificial Attack Mode. However, with the extra power offered by this, he eventually regained first place. Pascal Wehrlein then took advantage of the same advantage to steal second place from Jake Dennis.

On lap 29, the Kiro Race of David Beckmann was stopped in the 12th turn after a collision with the Lola of Luca di Grassi. A safety car was therefore deployed while the car was moved. When the race resumed normally, there were only six laps remaining. Oliver Rowland immediately moved from fourth to first position. But, a new safety car was immediately out, because Mitch Evans, the winner of the first E-Prix of the season, was in a wall following an incident. On the 33rd lap, the race restarted once again and no overtaking was observed at the front of the race.

Oliver Rowland won the second E-Prix of the season ahead of Antonio Félix da Costa and Pascal Wehrlein. Jake Dennis finished at the foot of the podium ahead of Jean-Éric Vergne and Maximilian Günther. Stoffel Vandoorne finished seventh at the wheel of his MSG Racing Maserati. He is ahead of Nick de Vries and Nico Müller. As for Taylor Barnard (Neom Mclaren), he completes the Top 10. For the complete ranking, click here.
