Will Sébastien Loeb make a surprise appearance on the Chaîne l’Equipe set before the end of the 2025 Dakar Rally? While the Alsatian and his co-driver, the Belgian Fabian Lurquin, have retired, the former could intervene on the grid before the end of the edition.
Daniel Elena, his lifelong accomplice, told us he was trying to get him to come to the Team set. “For me, he came home,” he told us in an interview. It would therefore be a great opportunity to invite him and re-form the duo, as the Monegasque explained to us:
“I actually suggested a few minutes ago (this Thursday, January 9, Editor’s note) to the Team to try to bring him on set. We might have a good surprise… Now, is it whether he will accept or not, I don’t know.”
Loeb and Lurquin constrained to abandonment
Remember that Sébastien Loeb and Fabian Lurquin abandoned the Dakar Rally on orders from the FIA, following an accident. The chassis of their Dacia Sandrider was damaged, after rolling over at 12 kilometers of the third stage, due to bleeding on the track. Which means immediate exclusion from the race.
An exclusion deemed too severe by the Alsatian. His Dacia team even lodged a complaint. In vain, because the crew is well and truly out of the race. And to race at least one more time after a victory in the Dakar Rally.
