loses Niklas Schmidt for several months

Bad news for TFC, its German midfielder Niklas Schmidt ruptured his cruciate knee ligament this Saturday in training. A serious injury which should hasten the end of the season.

’s German midfielder Niklas Schmidt ruptured the cruciate ligament in his knee on Saturday in training, the club announced via a press release published on its social networks. “This morning, during training, our midfielder was seriously injured (…) The first examinations revealed a rupture of the cruciate ligament”indicates the club without giving any indication of the duration of his unavailability which should nevertheless extend until the end of the season.

The midfielder (26 years old), who arrived in Toulouse at the start of last season, never managed to really establish himself there (1 goal and 1 assist in 22 games last season) and, moreover, did not never started this season (1 assist in 9 games). His prolonged absence could, however, force the Toulouse club to be active during the transfer window after the injury of its usual captain Vincent Sierro (calf) which could keep the Swiss international away from the field for a little more than a month.

Toulouse, currently eighth in the championship, is having its best start to the season in more than ten years and hosts on Sunday (5:15 p.m.) with the ambition of confirming its current dynamic of six victories in its last eight L1 matches.
