Former Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has revealed that Ferrari’s performance at the final Grand Prix of the 2024 season in Abu Dhabi made him “makes you feel bad” pour Fernando Alonso.
Di Montezemolo’s guilt is linked to the fact that Alonso lost the 2010 drivers’ world championship by just four points to Sebastian Vettel.
Alonso, who was racing for Ferrari at the time, spent most of the 2010 season finale in Abu Dhabi stuck behind Vitaly Petrov and his Renault, leading to the Spaniard finishing seventh.
To become a three-time world champion that year, the driver had to finish fourth, which was possible given his qualification in third position.
Unfortunately, Alonso was unable to overtake Petrov, who defended magnificently.
What makes Alonso think of Di Montezemelo is that Ferrari put in a great performance in the last race at the Yas Marina circuit.
“Formula 1 has truly become a competition that involves all continents.”
“The 2024 championship has been unpredictable and ultimately, there is a positive element in seeing Ferrari who, during the last GP, showed themselves capable of winning. And when I saw that, I thought of Alonso in 2010 , I feel bad, a 4th place would have been enough at the time.”

Max Verstappen also received congratulations from the former president of Ferrari.
“There are the great champions and then there are the champions like Sofia Goggia in skiing, Federica Pellegrini in swimming or Jannik Sinner in tennis.”
“In F1, Verstappen is a champion, he has always been very strong even from his beginnings in karting.”
“This year he had to give his all: he had a car inferior to McLaren and in some cases even to Ferrari. So it’s a very nice title that he managed to win.”
