The Nigerian Moses Simon, the most active Nantes player in the match, tested Philipp Kohn’s gloves with a crushed shot, before the mischievous opener from Matthis Abline (12th), well served by Sorba Thomas at the penalty point. The Monegasques tried to respond, from afar, with this powerful strike from Lamine Camara, well countered by Anthony Lopes (24th). Swiss striker Breel Embolo sent a shiver through the Beaujoire bays but his powerful header brushed Lopes’ right post (37th).

Despite being impeccable until then, defender Nicolas Pallois found himself in a duel with Embolo, the Swiss found himself facing Lopes to score with a powerful strike (52nd). Eliesse Ben Seghir thought to put the two teams back on level terms with a curled but off-target shot (55th). It was the Ghanaian defender, Mohammed Salisu, with a header who was able to equalize in the empty goal, the fault of a poor reading by Anthony Lopes (59th).
The match got carried away in the last minutes, the two teams did not want to settle for a draw point. Breel Embolo thought he could score a double following a mix-up, but it was Nicolas Pallois who countered on his line (82nd).
