The decision of the Spanish Higher Sports Council to authorize Barça to replay Dani Olmo and Pau Victor on a provisional basis goes down very badly with certain clubs in the country. They see it as a terrible injustice.
Anger rises. Several Spanish clubs have decided to speak out to publicly outrage the decision taken by the Spanish Sports Council to provisionally authorize the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor with FC Barcelona. Las Palmas, 13th in Liga, denounced “a decision which seriously endangers the integrity of the competition and creates a worrying precedent which risks destabilizing the foundations of professional football in our country.”
Same story with Valladolid, bottom of the championship. Club spokesperson Jorge Santiago spoke of a “serious comparative disadvantage. The one that regulates the competition is LaLiga and the licenses are regulated by the Federation. It is a total lack of respect for those who are part of the competition . This sets a dangerous precedent.”
“The rules are not the same for everyone”
On the side of the Spanish second division, the coach of Malaga, Sergio Pellicer, also sees a terrible injustice. “In Malaga, we lived for two years with 18 professional players. We made a mistake and we complied. We obeyed and it was one of the moments of greatest crisis in the history of the club. (… ) The rules are not the same for everyone. There is a before and after yesterday’s decision,” he lamented.
-President of Athletic Club Bilbao, Jon Uriarte was just as blunt on Wednesday at the microphone of Movistar, before the semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup lost by his team against Barça (2-0): “It’s a decision forecast taken by a political body It is January 8 and we are experiencing something incredible… There are situations that are grotesque.”
Barcelona was authorized on Wednesday to replay Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, whose licenses had been canceled by La Liga for lack of sufficient financial guarantees, by a decision of the Spanish Superior Sports Council. A provisional measure which “suspenses the cancellation of the licenses” in question and also maintains their validity until the outcome of the dispute. They will therefore be able to return to competition this Sunday against Real Madrid or Mallorca in the final of the Spanish Super Cup.
