According to the Argentinian media Olé, Alpine will hire Franco Colapinto for the 2025 Formula 1 season and the latter could replace Jack Doohan, who was nevertheless promoted to starter in place of Esteban Ocon, who left the team at the end of the season 2024. Doohan had even participated in the last Grand Prix of the season in Abu Dhabi in place of Ocon but he could now be replaced by Colapinto.
Mayhem at Alpine?
The 21-year-old Australian driver could therefore suffer a huge blow even before the start of the 2025 season. Franco Colapinto would also be the new driver alongside Pierre Gasly and the officialization could come quickly. Very good at Williams in 2024, he had been mentioned on the Red Bull side but ultimately, it is at Alpine that Colapinto could evolve in 2025. However, he could not be started immediately, being a reserve at the start due to the fact that Doohan would have ‘a contract of… six races. He would thus go until the Saudi Arabian GP, scheduled for April 20 in Jeddah and then, it would be Colapinto from Miami who would be Pierre Gasly’s new teammate. Chaos could well reign very quickly on the Alpine side if this announcement becomes official.
