Ten Rally1s at Monte-Carlo, half will be Toyotas

The entry list for the Monte-Carlo Rally, the opening round of the 2025 WRC season, was published this weekend. In the Rally1 category, there will be ten at the start to compete for victory, the most represented contingent being that of Toyota with the presence of its five cars.

The legendary asphalt event will open the championship in two weeks, from January 23 to 26, with Rally1s now devoid of any hybrid system and lighter, but also fitted with new Hankook tires. The points scale has evolved compared to the revolutionary one that came into force last season, while retaining the same philosophy with the aim of maintaining the stakes on Sunday.

As expected, reigning world champion Thierry Neuville has decided to abandon the number 11 to display the 1 on his Hyundai, a manufacturer which will also count on Ott Tänak as well as its new recruit Adrien Fourmaux. A priori, they will drive a version of the i20 N similar to that of the end of last season, before a major evolution which will arrive soon.

Reigning world manufacturer champion, Toyota will field five GR Yaris, starting with that of full-time returner Kalle Rovanperä. Elfyn Evans and Takamoto Katsuta will of course be there and, unsurprisingly, the three men will be joined by eight-time world champion Sébastien Ogier, record holder for victories on the Monte-Carlo Rally with nine successes.

Sami Pajari, now co-driven by Marko Salminen, will complete the Toyota armada, which chose Ogier, Rovanperä and Evans to score points in the constructors' championship.

Finally, M-Sport Ford will have two Puma Rally1s in the running with Grégoire Munster, supported this year by new recruit Josh McErlean.
