Giant of Alta Badia | Filip Zubcic in the lead, maximum suspense for the 2nd round

What if it was a day of revenge for Filip Zubcic? Beaten last year by Marco Odermatt despite a crazy second round, the Croatian took the upper hand this Sunday to dominate the first round of the Alta Badia giant. Taking advantage of his small bib (2) on a track which quickly scored, even if it gave the big bibs a chance to qualify, “Zubo” showed his consistency throughout a long round (1'16 ''08) and his commitment to beat the Norwegian Alexander Steen Olsen (+ 0''05) and the king of the place, Marco Odermatt (+ 0''19).

Quadruple title holder at Alta Badia, the Swiss ignored the fatigue accumulated in recent days, he who was skiing for the 5th consecutive day after the two training sessions, the downhill and the Super-G. Diligent, not really satisfied with the conditions and not even sure of committing to this giant, the holder of the little globe let his qualities speak for himself to limit the damage, before giving up on the bottom, his favorite section of the Gran Risa. Leader of the World Cup in the discipline, Henrik Kristoffersen is just behind (4th, +0”29).

On the French side, the rays of sunshine of the day came from Léo Anguenot and Diego Orecchioni. Dazzling on the Italian track, on the attack, engaging in each curve without worrying about the terrain, tactician when necessary, the two Tricolores signed the best first round of their career by respectively taking the 9th time (+ 0''84), dreaming of the top 5, and the 16th time (+ 1''55). It was much more complicated for Alexis Pinturault (14th, + 1''39), with broken legs, and for Thibaut Favrot, only 27th (+ 2''30).
