This Saturday afternoon, four matches were contested for the 12th day. Toulon, Bayonne, Montpellier and Stade Français won.
What a multiplex! For the 12th day of Top 14 this Saturday afternoon, four matches were played simultaneously. Among them, the one between Toulon and Pau. To be honest, there wasn't really a match. Even if the Béarnais held on for a long time, they finally gave in and lost heavily against an RCT which came back very strongly (56-25).
In a locked and stressful match, Montpellier won the standoff (21-17) imposed by Racing 92, thanks in particular to a pack of conquering forwards and a Léo Coly in form. In other matches, Bayonne scored a good result against Vannes (21-27), last in the Top 14, while Stade Français is finally breathing after its victory against Perpignan (24-7), without an offensive bonus.
Toulon hits Pau
If the Varois were somewhat shaken up for fifty minutes by the valiant Palois (24-20 in the 52nd minute), Pierre Mignoni's men flew through the last half hour with no less than four tries scored to conclude a superb match. Toulon wingers Gabin Villière and Gaël Dréan both scored twice. The RCT therefore improved against the Section Paloise and pocketed five points. Baptise Serin and his team get on the podium, while Pau is 12th and suffers its 6th defeat in eight matches.
The efficient French Stadium
Without being exceptional, the Parisians defeated Perpignan this Saturday at the Stade Jean-Bouin. Joe Marchant, author of a good match, and Brad Weber notably scored. A victory without bonuses at the end of a solid match, which allows Léo Barré and his teammates to give themselves some breathing space. Opposite, the Perpignans put in a small performance and went on to a 5th match without a win.
Racing 92 misses the mark
In a tough and locked-in match, Stuart Lancaster's men finally lost by four small points on the Montpellier pitch. Although reduced to 13 during the last ten minutes, the Héraultais were able to hold on, in front of their audience, against the Ile-de-France attacks which swept into their in-goal at the end of the match. A victory which will do good for MHR (8th), while Racing 92 now finds itself 10th in the ranking, just behind Stade Français.
Stoppage for Vannes
The Bretons remained on a magnificent victory on the lawn of La Rochelle during the last victory of the Top 14 and wanted to continue so as not to be dropped. This is ultimately not the case. Faced with solid Bayonnais who constructed their match perfectly, the Vannes residents were unable to confirm their good dynamic. They are last and still four points behind the first non-relegation team. For its part, Bayonne once again proves its solidity and consolidates its place in the top 6.
