New reward for Max Verstappen at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season. The Dutch driver obtained his fourth world champion title in a row, despite a very good second half of the season from Lando Norris. But the Red Bull driver was able to resist to pocket his fourth crown in a row and continue to reign over F1. And while he is now resting for the 2025 season, where he will aim for the five-year mark, the Dutch driver has just received a new personal reward.
Verstappen voted best driver of the year
Unsurprisingly, Max Verstappen was voted best driver of the year by the team principals at the end of the 2024 season. The ten team principals were called to vote for their top 10 best drivers of the year and Verstappen finished well at the top of this ranking. A points scale is set up for this vote in the Championship (from 25 for 1st to 1 for 10th). And for the first time in seven editions, a driver received the maximum points. Thus, Max Verstappen was elected with 250 points. He was placed first by the ten Team Principals: Alessandro Alunni Bravi (Sauber), Christian Horner (Red Bull), Ayao Komatsu (Haas), Mike Krack (Aston Martin), Laurent Mekies (Racing Bulls), Oli Oakes ( Alpine), Andrea Stella (McLaren), Fred Vasseur (Ferrari), James Vowles (Williams) and Toto Wolff (Mercedes). Lando Norris finishes 2nd with 178 points, while Charles Leclerc is third with 121 points.
