“We will have a few days of testing with TPC (previous car testing) and Pirelli (tire testing) before Bahrain,” Vasseur told F1.com. “It’s a very short period. Ultimately the car launch is on February 19, then we go straight to Bahrain for the first test and to Melbourne.

This means there will be some rush, but I’m not worried at all. Lewis comes with experience. He has spent almost 20 seasons in F1 and he will manage this period perfectly.”

After the Sainz family rolled at Fiorano, Vasseur added: “We know we will have a lot of procedures to learn over these two days, but I think he has enough experience to do it. We will have the advantage of having the simulator. He will obviously be able to do a racing simulation, qualifying and being completely prepared with the steering wheel and the particularities of the race. But honestly, I’m not worried about that. It’s not the biggest challenge.
