Lewis Hamilton said goodbye to Mercedes at the end of last week, including fireworks for his departure. The British driver, who drove for the German team from 2013 to 2024, will now be a Ferrari driver from 2025 and will be teammate of Charles Leclerc. This duo promises to be worth a look but the arrival of the seven-time world champion within the Scuderia will be a huge event. Especially since we learn that Hamilton is going to be paid a fortune. Because it's simple, the British driver will receive 60 million euros per year and it's a new record, as Forbes tells us.
Record salary for Hamilton
According to information from the magazine, Hamilton's new contract at Ferrari, who signed for two seasons, would amount to 120 million euros over two years, with an option to extend in 2027. His base salary would be of 60 million euros, excluding performance bonuses and personal sponsorship contracts which could increase this figure to 100 million. Hamilton will therefore be the highest paid driver in Formula 1, ahead of Max Verstappen's base salary of 57 million euros at Red Bull in 2024. Verstappen, four-time consecutive world champion, had reached a total of 70 million euros thanks to its bonuses. Suffice it to say that Hamilton could therefore bring about a revolution in Formula 1 with this new salary, which is simply insane.
