Verstappen honored at FIA gala in Rwanda

The prestigious International Automobile Federation (FIA) gala was held this year in Kigali, Rwanda, to celebrate the champions of different motorsport disciplines. Among them, Max Verstappen was the center of attention, receiving his fourth consecutive Formula 1 world champion trophy, as reported by Motorsport. Despite a less dominant Red Bull in 2024, Verstappen was able to defend his title against significant competition, notably that of Lando Norris on McLaren. With nine Grand Prix victories, 14 podiums, four sprint successes and eight pole positions, the Dutchman has shown once again that he remains at the top of his game.

A more difficult season for a deserved title

Before the awards ceremony, Verstappen also completed community service imposed by the FIA. The bonds followed controversial remarks made during a press conference earlier in the season. In Kigali, he met young drivers involved in a development program supported by the Automobile Club of Rwanda. The Dutchman, crowned four times consecutive world champion, reacted after receiving his trophy. “It's great! Four titles, it's really incredible”Verstappen said. “Obviously I hope it doesn't stop there and that we can be successful for an even longer period of time, but as we've already seen this year, it's very close. And then, a lot of things will change in 2026 and other teams may be competitive again, but for now I think it is very important to savor this moment, to be proud of what we have achieved as a team, and we will try again luck next year”, confided Max Verstappen who can take the time to savor before leaving for a new Formula 1 season.
