F! : Charles Leclerc is proud of Ferrari's season

“We have to be proud whatever happens”: while Ferrari is still in the fight for the world constructors' title in before the last GP in Abu Dhabi, Charles Leclerc estimated on Thursday that the Scuderia had achieved a good season.

Despite a less efficient single-seater than Red Bull and especially McLaren, the Prancing Horse team has in fact managed to maximize its results this season and stand up to its competitors, to the point of still having the possibility of winning a leaking crown. the Scuderia since 2008.

“We had a very solid season because clearly McLaren had a better car than us throughout the year so overall I am very satisfied. In difficult times, we managed to bring back important points even if the performance was not necessarily there. We have to be proud whatever happens,” the Monegasque told AFP on Thursday.

With 21 points behind McLaren while a maximum of 44 points can be won on Sunday during the 24th and final Grand Prix of the season, Ferrari's mission promises to be complicated.

“It’s still playable. Afterwards, we're not going to lie to each other, we're going to need a little success. We have to do a very good job and McLaren has to be in a little more difficulty,” admitted Leclerc, who is only eight lengths behind Briton Lando Norris (McLaren), runner-up to quadruple world champion Max Verstappen in the driver rankings.

This race will be all the more special for the Monegasque as he will make history on Friday by taking part in the first free practice session with his younger brother Arthur as a teammate since Ferrari will entrust the car of the Spaniard Carlos Sainz to the former Formula 2 driver.
