Formula 1 | Zhou 'relieved' to have scored points before forced 2025 break

Guanyu Zhou says he is relieved to have finally scored his first points of the season during the penultimate round of 2024, this weekend in Qatar.

Stake /Sauber had not scored a point for over 12 months until Zhou finished eighth on Sunday.

“It's been a very difficult season. I'm so happy: for me it's a big relief, but also for the team.”

“It was a very intense race. It was clean, we made overtakes when it counted, with a very good pace throughout the last stint.”

“We got what we deserved for so long,” adds Zhou, who has no steering wheel for 2025.

“There's still one race left with the team. I'm going to enjoy as much as I can and show everyone what I can do before I'm off the grid next year and hopefully come back.”

Is he relieved to have shown he is still worthy of being in F1?

“Yes. People internally know which car I had, the evolutions or not, etc. But externally the perception is always different. I finally had the same spec as Valtteri and with the latest evolutions, we are again in the same pace. It was good to show that before I had to put my helmet down for this winter.”
