Formula 1 | Verstappen shares his emotions and closes the debate with Norris and Leclerc

Max Verstappen has opened up about his emotions days after winning his fourth world title at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, with the Dutchman admitting it was nice to celebrate the achievement after a season “very intense”.

When asked what his emotions were a few days after his new coronation, the 27-year-old driver replied: “It was great, I was very happy with my season and winning it in Vegas. For me it was a very intense season, so it was also very nice to celebrate it a little.”

As for whether this championship felt more special than the previous three, Verstappen admitted it was a good feeling to have achieved this feat given the tight competition Red Bull faced in 2024.

“My titles have all been very different, but I think this one was very rewarding in the end.”

“It hasn't always been the easiest for us as a team and to come away with this championship…I really felt it when I crossed the line in Vegas, I was like 'this' is done'! It's been difficult at times, but I'm very proud of how we handled it all.”

Reflecting further on whether the close battle between the top teams made things more exciting this year but also for 2025, Verstappen said: “At the moment, it really doesn’t matter to me.”

“I'm just trying to do my best at the end of the season and for next year, we know we have a lot of things to improve, and that's what we're going to try to work on. Once we We get started next year, we'll see where we are. It's not really something I'm thinking about at the moment.”

Verstappen himself launched a controversy claiming that he would have won the title at the wheel of the McLaren or the Ferrari. Norris and Leclerc mocked these statements.

Is he surprised?

“No, but no one needs to answer. I know perfectly well what I can and can't do. We don't need to talk about it. We don't need to spend time trying to denigrate people or whatever. The championship is over. We will all try again next year to win it.
