Charles Leclerc arrived in the Losail paddock ready to race, but realistic about his chances for the weekend of beating the McLaren F1 drivers with his Ferrari.
“On paper this circuit doesn't suit our car that much, but I think the fact that it's a Sprint format could help us,” he explained during the FIA press conference.
“I think that tomorrow's free practice session alone will give important indications: whoever has done their homework well will be able to have a competitive advantage which can then be extended over the rest of the weekend.”
Team first: Charles talked about the main objective of the weekend.
“Carlos and I know that the team comes first and the aim of this Grand Prix is to keep the fight for the constructors' title open until the last race. To achieve this we must do a perfect job here at Qatar and the next race in Abu Dhabi, but I think we have the capabilities to achieve it.”
Leclerc could take back 2nd place in the championship from Norris if he had an excellent Grand Prix in Qatar.
“Finishing third or second in the drivers' championship, I obviously prefer to finish second obviously, but it's not that important. The important thing is the title for Ferrari. If we get there then maybe I would be 2nd as a result .”
