Tim is the son of McLaren co-founder Teddy Mayer and spent 15 years as commissioner and rose through the ranks to become one of the FIA's most renowned members.

Mayer was even considered “the chief steward” of Formula 1. But after his last appearance at the Mexican Grand Prix, he was no longer called upon to be the president of the stewards' office.
