Young Briton Luke Browning, driver of the Williams Racing Academy, will make his Formula 1 debut during the first free practice session (FP1) of the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. In addition to this unique opportunity, he will also participate at the end of season tests for young drivers, confirming his rise in the motorsport hierarchy. Browning, who shone in Formula 3 with two victories and a third place in the championship, recently launched into Formula 2 with a notable debut at ART Grand Prix.
A great talent
For Williams Racing, this initiative is part of their policy of supporting young talents via their Driver Academy, which notably saw Franco Colapinto obtain a seat in F1 this year. “Luke has shown rapid progression and impressive maturity,” said Sven Smeets, the team's sporting director. With the FW46 in his hands in Abu Dhabi, Luke Browning will have a golden chance to prove himself as he begins his F1 career.
