Recently linked to rumors sending him to Ferrari in 2025, Guanyu Zhou claims that the Scuderia is really interested in welcoming him as a reserve driver.
Guanyu Zhou did not have a great 2024 season, certainly not helped by a very underperforming Sauber. The team based in Switzerland has therefore decided not to extend the adventure with the Chinese driver in 2025, choosing to renew its duo 100% with the arrival of Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto.
But the Chinese could well bounce back at Ferrari as a reserve driver in 2025 where he could bring both his experience, but also a “considerable financial support” as RacingNews365 reported a few days ago. Recruiting a Chinese driver could also benefit Ferrari from a commercial and marketing point of view.

Zhou: “So far, I haven’t signed anything”
“As I said, we are talking to several teams and, of course, Ferrari remains one of the teams that are really interested in me”Zhou said in Las Vegas. “We have to see. Obviously there’s a lot to come over the next few weekends to make a decision, but clearly we’re looking at all the options we have and seeing where we stand.”
“For my part, I don't want to commit to the future yet because I want to make sure everything is clear and precise and commit fully to the next project. I hope something will be decided soon.” Guanyu Zhou further specifies: “For the moment, I haven’t signed anything.”
If this arrival at Ferrari as reserve driver for 2025 is confirmed, it would therefore be a return for Guanyu Zhou, who was already a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy from 2014 to 2018.
In the meantime, Zhou will have to enjoy the last two Grands Prix remaining in 2024 which could well be his last in F1. The Chinese driver is currently in 21st place in the drivers' championship, with zero points on the clock.
