Hamilton congratulates Verstappen on his title: “Really happy for him”

After his fourth consecutive coronation obtained in Las Vegas, Max Verstappen received congratulations from Lewis Hamilton who recognized his “fantastic work”.

While he had to leave Las Vegas with at least 60 points in advance to be titled, Max Verstappen did the necessary work this Sunday to become quadruple F1 world champion.

He thus joined Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel in this exclusive club of drivers who have won four titles. Only three drivers in history have now won more F1 titles: Juan Manuel Fangio (5 titles) then Michael Schumacher (7) and a certain Lewis Hamilton (7).

The latter did not fail to congratulate Max Verstappen in his first interview, a few minutes after getting out of his car in Las Vegas this Sunday, at the F1 microphone.

“First of all, I would like to congratulate Max on his championship victory, while there are still several races to go,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton : “He rose to the occasion every time”

A little later, the seven-time World Champion spoke more about the now four-time World Champion after a question asked at a press conference.

“He did a fantastic job,” Hamilton said. “He didn't make any mistakes and he rose to the occasion every time and for every point he was supposed to get. He and his team did the best job, once again, for the fourth year in a row. And at one point it was really exciting.”

“I think they will be hard to beat next year because they probably started developing next year's car earlier than everyone else. But yeah, I’m really happy for him.”
