WEC – 36 entered for the year, but without Lamborghini

That's it, LMEM has today made official the identity of the competitors who will put on the show next year over the eight rounds on the program for the 13th season of the WEC since its rebirth in 2012. As a reminder, the competitors had until November 18 to submit their application for commitment.

???????? New additions highlight head-turning 2025 FIA WEC entry list

If, last June, it was announced that the Endurance World Championship was now able to welcome 40 competitors per year, this will not be the case next year. The departures of Lamborghini for reasons that we have explained to you many times and the fact that Proton Compétition did not succeed in fielding a second 963 have reduced the contingent of entrants to 36 cars compared to 37 at the start of 2024, thirty-six continued to the withdrawal of Isotta Fraschini during the summer.

➡️ THE LIST IS HERE:

As was the case at the end of the year, note a perfect equality between the Hypercar category – reinforced by the arrival of Aston Martin and a second Cadillac – and LMGT3, a class in which the withdrawal of the Huracan is compensated by the arrival of the Mercedes-AMG LMGT3.

As for the drivers, the only major confirmation to report if you are an avid reader of Endurance-Info is the probable absence of Valentino Rossi. You will certainly tell us that the BMW M Team WRT has not yet announced its Silver drivers, but the fact that the two M4s wear the numbers 31 and 32 in no way suggest the presence of the ex-star MotoGP on the grids next year.

If you have had the opportunity to take a look at our entry list. United Autosports announced the presence of Marino Sato and Grégoire Saucy on its McLaren 720 S LMGT3, TF Sport those of Charlie Eastwood and Daniel Juncadella, while Team WRT included Maxime Martin and Augusto Farfus on its list.

Frédéric Lequien, CEO of the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC):

“We are delighted to reveal the entry list for the 2025 FIA WEC season. This grid illustrates the success of the regulations with the presence of two categories: Hypercar and LMGT3. This also demonstrates the appeal of our championship to the biggest brands and private teams. Building on a successful 2024 season, we are convinced that consistency and continuity are the keys to sustainable growth, as evidenced by the exceptional 2025 calendar and grid.”

Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO):

“The year 2024 was marked by a unique sporting plateau and 2025 promises to write an exciting chapter in the history of endurance. The arrival of new emblematic manufacturers, in Hypercar as in LMGT3, enriches a championship already at the top, illustrating the attractiveness of our discipline. Alongside the essential figures of endurance, these new players promise intense clashes and memorable moments. We look forward to kicking off this highly anticipated season next February in Qatar for the Prologue. »

Richard Mille, President of the FIA Endurance Commission:

“The announcement of the entry list is always a pivotal moment, marking the true start of the next season. With 13 manufacturers in the Hypercar and LMGT3 categories, the FIA WEC field in 2025 is exceptionally strong, proving once again that we are fortunate to witness what is arguably the golden age of endurance racing . We are particularly excited to see Aston Martin rise to the top of our sport and to see Mercedes-AMG join the grid. With these two iconic names strengthening the competition, all the ingredients are there for an exciting new season. This entry list also reflects the successful collaboration between the FIA and the team promoting the FIA World Endurance Championship. »
