Formula 1 | Verstappen is much less negative than in 2023 at the Las Vegas GP

Max Verstappen has distanced himself from recent criticism aimed at Formula 1 and the -promoted Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Last year, the Red Bull driver was scathing about the new Las Vegas event, describing it as “99% spectacle, 1% sporting event”.

However, he told reporters this weekend that he now had a more nuanced view.

"I understand why we are here," declared the three-time world champion in Las Vegas. “I understand it both from a business perspective and from a racing perspective. But it will never be my favorite circuit even if it offers great racing.”

Verstappen also says most of his negative comments from a year ago were mainly directed “against the pilot presentation ceremony, which made me feel like a clown”.

It has been removed for 2024.

“And that’s a good thing! I’m really not that negative about this race,” insists the 27-year-old pilot.

“I prefer circuits with fast corners, so it's a matter of personal preference. But it's not a bad Grand Prix and the city is also very good.”
