Lewis Hamilton looked back on his terrible Brazilian Grand Prix, where at the wheel of his Mercedes, the seven-time world champion only managed to score one small point.
Cursing against his car, the Briton even declared on the team radio that it could be his “last time” to drive for Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton then told Sky Sports F1 that he had “looking forward to Christmas”. In other words, the Mercedes driver was already eager to turn the page and turn to Ferrari, his future team.
Mercedes tried to downplay its driver's comments in the days following the race, but the 39-year-old seven-time world champion clarified that in the heat of the moment, he “didn’t really want to come back.”
“I mean at the time that's how I felt, like I didn't really want to come back after that weekend”, he told the media ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
“But I think it's completely natural. It's frustrating when you have a season like this that I won't experience again, or at least will strive to not experience again.”
“It wasn't a great feeling at the time, but I'm here, I'm strong and I'm going to give everything I have for these last few races”, added Lewis Hamilton.

Hamilton and the rest of the grid await a response from the FIA
A few days ago, all the drivers on the grid sent a letter to the FIA and its President. The Grand Prix Drivers' Association, which brings together all current F1 drivers, sent a statement to FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem to express their concerns. The pilots highlighted several points, including a request for reassessment of recent sanctions imposed for offensive remarks, after criticism from Ben Sulayem. However, this message has, for the moment, remained a dead letter.
“If we don't receive a response, I'm sure we will contact them. I know they have a lot going on right now, but I think it shows that more than ever, the drivers are united, which maybe isn't something we've always seen in the past”, said the Mercedes driver.
“I think there are some things that need to be addressed and the FIA needs to work better and collaborate with us, because we want the sport to continue to thrive and improve, we have nothing to gain from comments that we do. All we ask is that they communicate with us and include us. We have to go further”a conclu Lewis Hamilton.
