The Japanese Grand Prix was moved to spring to align with races in the Asia-Pacific region, Azerbaijan was rescheduled for autumn when the championship turns east to Singapore, and Qatar was moved closer to Abu Dhabi at the end of the season.
As previously announced, as part of this broader rationalization, the Monaco Grand Prix will be held every year on the first full weekend of June, starting in 2026.
“I am extremely grateful to the promoter and all government partners involved in the Canadian Grand Prix, whether local, provincial or national governments,” said Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali.
“We commend the considerable effort of everyone who helped accelerate the temporary staging of the event to be ready to welcome the F1 community sooner than in the past. This change will make the future schedule not only more sustainable, but also makes more logistical sense for our teams and staff. Our commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030 remains a priority for us as a sport, and it is through changes like this that we are well on our way to achieving our goal. »
Jean-Philippe Paradis, CEO of Octane Racing Group, added that: “This change in the calendar is a major step in our commitment, and that of Formula 1, towards a more sustainable future. It demonstrates our desire to combine sporting performance and event organization with environmental responsibility. »
“We are determined to offer our fans, our communities and our loyal audience a unique and enriched experience, while extending the summer season for Montreal. »
