: McLaren seals Red Bull, the jubilation!

At the end of the 2023 season, while Red Bull dominated the Formula 1 world championships head and shoulders, one team was making progress: McLaren. A progression which was confirmed in 2024, since the British team is leader in the manufacturers' ranking. Lando Norris still has a chance, even if it is tiny, of becoming world champion. McLaren boss Andrea Stella was obviously over the moon.

It's almost time to take stock for the Formula 1 teams and drivers. There are only three races left to go and for the moment, if the ranking remains frozen, Max Verstappen will be drivers' world champion while McLaren will win the constructors' title.

“McLaren has far surpassed all other competitors”

In comments reported by Nextgen-Auto, Andrea Stellathe director of McLaren already takes stock of the season: “ I think if you ask every team the same question, if they're honest, they'll all say 'Yes, we have a lot of opportunities that we should look at.' This is always our state of mind. If you don't analyze opportunities, you will never improve. And even though we are in this quest this season, we also want to be in the quest for the championship in the future, so we want to take advantage of every learning. At the same time, I would like to reiterate that since we brought lap time to the car in Miami, McLaren has far outperformed all other competitors. So I think even though we have opportunities, the number of points we scored – not necessarily because we had the best car as I keep saying, because we had the best car in some events, not all – this is simply because the team and drivers performed to a very high standard. »

“Extremely satisfied with what we were able to accomplish”

« We view these high standards as a positive, as the foundation on which to continue building. And to continue building, we certainly have to look at what we haven't done perfectly. But that's what we do all the time, continues Stella. This is where our culture works really well and hopefully there won't be a lot of missed opportunities left in the latter part of the season. But at the moment we are extremely happy with what we have been able to achieve and the standards we have set throughout the season. »
