Yuki Tsunoda admits he took a lot of confidence from his final weekend in Brazil, with important points scored for RB F1 but also a superb 3rd place in qualifying which confirmed his good pace.
While Liam Lawson remains Red Bull's favorite driver for a possible replacement for Sergio Perez in the main team, the Japanese is nevertheless relieved.
"This kind of performance was very necessary," he admits.
“It wasn't easy in Brazil, from the first free practice session I didn't really have any grip and I made a lot of changes, the parts too. And it improved a lot under my impulse, which gives confidence, clearly.”
“I just needed a quiet weekend, after Austin and Mexico, where I didn't have a clean race week. Austin started very well but… I made some mistakes in the race . In Mexico it was just my fault in qualifying. There were good opportunities there, there was good pace, but I lost the opportunity for myself.
“I just needed a very clean week of racing in Brazil. Confidence… I think I always have confidence. But at some point you have to prove it on track.”
