fright for Alan Roura with a boat almost lying on its side at 35 knots

The Swiss sailor was the victim of a steep start aboard Hublot at Cape Finisterre while the weather conditions were getting tougher.

Setting off on Sunday with almost zero winds in Les Sables d'Olonne, the Vendée Globe competitors got to the heart of the matter last night with the passage of Cape Finisterre in tough conditions. A situation which caused a scare for Alan Roura who was traveling at 35 knots when his boat was the victim of a heaving start. The Imoca Hublot found itself almost lying on its side with a sail swept by the winds and falling into the water.

“They always say that I don't film when things aren't going well… well that's not going well! »explained the sailor in the early morning before adding: “That's it, it's called a drop start. Now we're going to try to get that back. There is 35 knots of wind. We will try not to tear any sails, put the boat back upright and resume our journey… Misery… But otherwise it's fine!»

Alan Roura has moved up in the rankings, going from 25th to 15th place in recent hours, proof that the maneuver to straighten out his 2019 foiling Imoca (Alex Thomson's former Hugo Boss monohull) went well .
