Ferrari responds to Red Bull cheating accusations

Frédéric Vasseur, director of Ferrari, reacted to accusations targeting several teams, suspected of using a “trick ” particular in racing. According to Auto Motor und Sport, Red Bull has suggested that McLaren will inject a small amount of fluid into its tires to keep the rubber at a lower temperature.

Ferrari is also mentioned in this report, which suggests that this technique would keep the tires cold longer, thus improving the performance of the cars. The accusations come after other technical reviews this season, including McLaren's rear wing in Baku and Red Bull's T-Tray.

However, Frédéric Vasseur has kicked aside and prefers to concentrate on the next Grands Prix and the possible constructors' title which could return to Maranello.

I don't know where the accusations come from ”, declared Fred Vasseur. “I won't dwell on this subject, because it is one of the team's strengths this year to stay away from all controversies.

I don't understand the theory because I think we are all trying to remove moisture from everywhere, not add something into the tires.

One of the main stakeholders, Mario Isola, head of F1 at Pirelli, said he had no evidence of any “trick”.

I don't see anything strange in the data we have ”, he said. “I have no proof. It's now up to the FIA to decide what to do and tell us if we can support them, because at the end of the day the only thing we can do is support them”, concluded Isola.

For its part, Scuderia Ferrari dreams of the constructor's title and is now 36 points behind the leading team, McLaren. This title would put an end to a 16-year drought among the Reds.
